The idea was to create a Soviet-type propaganda poster. Giant mecha robots and a female pilot holding her helmet look toward a bright future. I enrolled my friend, Jessica, as the model and she turned out to be perfect for the role. It was important to me to give the illustration a painterly look. I found the smudge tool very useful for mixing and blending color and references. I like its organic feel. However because it’s not quite the same as mixing with a real brush and tends to push colors, it requires a certain degree of control and the addition of more paint".
Soviet-type propaganda poster"? ;)
Quantum Dreams: The Art of Stephan Martiniere" (2004):
PS.
